Max Born
December 1882, Breslau – 5 January 1970, G?ttingen
In 1901 Max Born started studying first law and moral philosophy, and later mathematics, physics and astronomy, in Breslau, Heidelberg, Zurich, Cambridge and G?ttingen. He was awarded his doctorate in 1906 in G?ttingen, where he was initially an associate lecturer. He then became an associate professor of theoretical physics at Berliner Universit?t, where he worked with Max Planck, Albert Einstein and Walther Nernst. In 1919 he received his first professorship in Frankfurt-am-Main.
Born worked on the principles of quantum mechanics, which describes processes at the atomic and subatomic level. For this research he was awarded the 1954 Nobel Prize for Physics.
