Description
The project consists of two parts:
1.) Historical research on the emergence of the East-German hooligan culture since the late 1970s, its political radicalisation in the 1980s and 1990s and its increasing normalisation since 2000 (monograph, based on biographical interviews and Stasi files);
2.) Ethnographic research on the renaissance of hooliganism in the context of right-wing populism and societal polarisation as well as the re-politisation of some parts of the hooligan scene in the context of debates about the immigration of refugees (monograph, mainly based on participant observation and interviews between 2015 and 2018).
