Language skills for postgraduate degree programmes
I. Language skills for the master's degree programmes (ability to study in the language of instruction)
Various language skills are required for master's degree programmes at Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin. The language and subject-specific admission requirements can be found in the entrance and admission requirements ("Zugangs- und Zulassungsregelungen (ZZR)") for each master's degree programme under "Special knowledge" (via "Zugangsvoraussetzungen -> Spezielle Kenntnisse") in the degree programmes offered as a PDF. The required language skills in English, German and/or other foreign languages and which language certificates are accepted for the application are governed by the ZZR for each master's programme.
If no other language requirements regarding German language skills are listed in the ZZR, proof of German language proficiency at level C1 is required for the application.

You can prove that you have the required C1 proficiency level with an appropriate certificate (final examination).
Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin accepts all common certificates for the application (e.g. Goethe-Zertifikat C1, telc C1, telc C1 金贝棋牌, DSH-1,TestDaF with a minimum score of 3 in all sections) in order to be able to take the DSH examination in the event of admission. Certificates of attendance of a German course will not be accepted.
If you have submitted German C1 language proficiency as part of your application and have been admitted to the degree programme, your proficiency will be tested as part of the "German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education" (DSH) before enrolment and the start of your studies. You will be invited to take this test by the university.
Exemption from the DSH exam is possible if you can provide proof of an equivalent such as the TestDaF with a score of at least 4 in all sections or the "telc C1 金贝棋牌" exam passed with "very good" or "good", passing the Goethe-Zertifikat C2 exam or DSH-2 from another German university, etc., and the certificate is not older than 3 years. Information about the DSH exam at HU can be found here. Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin does not organise preparatory German courses.
