Get a PhD in Math
The Berlin Mathematical School is a joint endeavor of the mathematics departments at the three major universities in Berlin: Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin, Freie Universit?t Berlin and Technische Universit?t Berlin.
The School offers an excellent graduate program taught in English in a broad and
active research environment together with mentoring programs, language courses, soft
skills seminars, funding for summer schools and conferences, a buddy program and funding
for students with children.
The School’s teaching and research areas:
- Differential geometry, global analysis, and mathematical physics
- Algebraic and arithmetic geometry, number theory
- Probability, statistics, and financial mathematics
- Discrete mathematics and combinatorial optimization
- Geometry, topology, and visualization
- Numerical mathematics and scientific computing
- Applied analysis and differential equations
The graduate program consists of a course phase (Phase I, three to four semesters)? leading from the bachelor's level to a master's degree, and a thesis phase (Phase II, four to six semesters) leading to a doctoral degree at one of the universities.
Admission to Phase I: possible with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Admission to Phase II: possible with a Master's degree or equivalent
