Affect and Colonialism Web Lab wins award

The concept wins the Ideas Competition for International Research Marketing Prize

The multi-media and multi-lingual online platform "Affect and Colonialism Web Lab" has been awarded the "Ideas Competition for International Research Marketing Prize" with a grant of 148,600 Euros. The Web Lab brings together researchers, journalists, activists, and artists worldwide?to illuminate, address, and discuss the entanglements of affect and colonialism, through?videos,?a podcast,?and online events.

The project also includes a digital fellowship program, which will enable knowledge producers particularly from the Global South to present their work on the platform, thus creating a close link between knowledge producers from different contexts. The fellowship program will officially start in May 2021.

The Web Lab is run jointly by scholars from Freie Universit?t Berlin and Humboldt Universit?t zu Berlin and is led by anthropologist?Dr. Jonas Bens, philosopher?Dr. Fabian Bernhardt, anthropologist?Dr. Rosa Cordillera A. Castillo, communication scholar?Dr. Débora Medeiros?and art historian?Dr. Verena Straub.?

The International Research Marketing Ideas Competition of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research is part of the?"Research in Germany"?initiative. The initiative presents Germany as a location for research and innovation worldwide and creates a forum for international exchange and cooperation. The initiative is jointly implemented by the German Academic Exchange Service, the DFG, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the DLR Project Management Agency.
