Profile-forming research structures
Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin has set up temporary Integrative Research Institutes (IRI) and Interdisciplinary Centres (IZ) to promote innovative research across disciplinary boundaries.
These profile building research structures are temporary and have different starting points: While IRI networks outstanding scientists across faculties to raise the profile of a research field, IZ represent interdisciplinary fields of experimentation that are intended to identify profiling areas.
