DFG Publishes E-Learning Course to Reduce Bias in Evaluation Processes
The German Research Foundation (DFG) has published a new e-learning course designed to reduce bias in scientific decision-making processes.
Bias, can influence funding decisions, which runs counter to the selection of the best candidates and can be discriminatory. The modular course is aimed at reviewers and committee members of the DFG, but is also relevant for other scientific decision-making processes such as peer review procedures, examination situations and appointment procedures. In approximately 45 minutes, definitions of bias, examples and recommendations for action are covered. The course includes practical examples, exercises and specific recommendations for action. An English version is in preparation. The DFG cordially invites all interested parties to participate.
