Berlin universities establish the Gemeinsame Ombudsstelle for good academic practice

14 Berlin universities, including the Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin, are involved in the Gemeinsamen Ombudsstelle.



The Gemeinsame Ombudsstelle complements and strengthens the existing structures at the universities.

The tasks of the Gemeinsame Ombudsstelle are regulated by the Berliner Hochschulgesetzes (BerlHG, Section 5a (3)): 1. developing cross-university recommendations on good academic practice based on recognised quality standards, 2. conducting evaluations at the request of individual universities and 3. examining individual cases of suspected academic misconduct if a university cannot do this itself for understandable reasons.

The office of the joint ombudsman rotates. For the first two years, it will be based at Freie Universit?t Berlin.
