With the Centres for Advanced Studies, the German Research Foundation (DFG) facilitates collaboration between particularly renowned researchers on a research topic in the humanities and social sciences at a single location. By deliberately focussing on open questions of a novel nature, Research Units can develop a far-reaching impact. The funding period is up to eight years.
