ERC Grants

The European Commission promotes excellent top-level research as part of the European Research Council (ERC) program. With the Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant and Advanced Grant, it awards highly endowed funding for researchers at various career stages. With the Synergy Grants, the ERC funds consortia of two to four leading scientists. The various funding lines are announced annually.

ERC funding for different career stages

The ERC funds excellent researchers at various career stages. The date of the PhD defense is decisive for eligibility in the funding programs.

ERC Starting Grants

With the Starting Grant, the ERC supports innovative researchers at early career stages (2-7 years after PhD). In general, up to 1.5 million Euros are available for this purpose. Funding period: 5 years
