Declaration of accessibility
Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin endeavours to make its websites accessible and thus to fulfil the requirements of the Berlin Act on Accessible Information and Communication Technology (BIKTG Bln), the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0), the Berlin State Equal Opportunities Act (LGBG) and the Disability Equality Act (BGG).
This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the services at hu-berlin.de and to all areas linked to this website that follow the HU's central technical system.
Status of compliance with the requirements
The website was subjected to a BITV test in October 2025. Many of the barriers identified have since been removed. The website largely meets the requirements of BITV 2.0.
Some barriers still exist:
Sign language videos (DGS)
The explanations to be provided on the homepage in German Sign Language are currently in production. As experience has shown that navigation, structure and interactions will still change after the relaunch, the videos will only be published once this adaptation phase has been completed in order to ensure that the content is up to date.
PDF documents
New PDF documents are always created barrier-free or checked for accessibility. Some older documents may not yet be fully accessible. All PDFs are labelled accordingly so that users can recognise the accessibility status.
Individual content/components
Despite extensive measures in design, technology and editing, there may be isolated barriers. Information or feedback helps us to rectify these.
Known non-accessible content
- Older PDFs that are not yet accessible.
- DGS videos for the homepage (in progress).
- Isolated content on subpages that still needs to be improved.
Forms fulfil the requirements of BITV 2.0.
Creation of this declaration
This declaration was created on 15 November 2025 and last updated on 20 November 2025. It is based on:
- a BITV test from October 2025,
- internal checks in accordance with the HU accessibility concept ,
- as well as continuous quality assurance in the editorial and development team.
