Thank you for your interest and your desire to apply to Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin. The following information is aimed at applicants with a higher education entrance qualification from Germany, the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA).

  • At Humboldt-Universit?t you apply online at studienplatz.hu-berlin.de.
  • You only apply once you have received your certificate (e.g. your Abitur certificate).
  • If you are applying for a degree programme that participates in the central procedure of hochschulstart.de , please register there first. You can find out which degree programme participates in the procedure in the degree programme offer.

  • You register first. Once you have registered, you can create your application(s). Please make sure you remember your login details!
  • We differentiate between Bachelor's programmes without a teacher training option and Bachelor's programmes with a teacher training option or teacher training reference. The subjects for which you can apply also depend on this.
  • You submitspecial applications during the online application process.
  • Please note that you do not need to submit an application for the so-called "underage quota"; if you are not yet 18 years old at the time of application, you will automatically be included in this quota.
  • At the end of the online application, you will be given the opportunity to check the data you have entered. You will find out which documents we need from you during the online application process.

Number of applications for a degree programme without NC

  • You can apply for degree programmes without NC.

Number of applications for a degree programme with NC

  • Undergraduate degree programmes (Bachelor): You can submit three applications for undergraduate degree programmes with NC, one of which is for the higher semester.
  • Advanced degree programmes (Master): You can submit one application for advanced degree programmes with NC (first or higher subject-related semester).
  • Second degree programmes and applications according to § 11 BerlHG (without general higher education entrance qualification, according to § 11 para. 2 and 3): You can submit an application.
  • Applicants who have not yet completed their first professionally qualifying university degree due to missing individual examinations can submit one application for a further degree programme (Master's) and three applications for a Bachelor's degree.

  • B.A. stands for Bachelor of Arts, roughly speaking for degree programmes in the humanities. B.Sc. stands for Bachelor of Science, roughly speaking for degree programmes in the natural sciences. There is no Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) at Humboldt-Universit?t.
  • There are combined Bachelor's and single Bachelor's programmes. In a combined Bachelor's degree programme, you study two subjects and an interdisciplinary compulsory elective area; in a mono Bachelor's degree programme, you study one subject and an interdisciplinary compulsory elective area. If you want to become a teacher , you will always study a combined Bachelor's degree with a teaching degree or a teaching degree option (B.A. or B.Sc.).
  • At the HU, Psychology is a degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree.
  • M.A. stands for a Master of Arts, M.Sc. for a Master of Sciences, the M.Ed. is the Master of Education that you need to become a teacher.

  • You must fulfil these requirements in order to participate in the application process.
  • You always need a university entrance qualification (usually the Abitur) or you are professionally qualified (§ 11 BerlHG).
  • For individual degree programmes, you must meet further requirements, e.g. have foreign language skills or prove your practical affinity and aptitude for sport. Please take a look at the programme descriptions in the range of courses on offer .
