Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment

As a member of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin supports the further development of research assessment.

What is CoARA?

The idea of CoARA is to reform the evaluation of the performance of various actors within the science system and to take greater account of qualitative factors, for example.

CoARA's four core commitments

  1. Recognise diversity of research dimensions and careers in research assessment
  2. Evaluation should be based on qualitative judgement
  3. Avoid inappropriate use of metrics in research assessment
  4. Avoid rankings of research institutions in research assessment

Humboldt-Universit?t can already draw on a great deal of good practice in this area.

CoARA signatories/network

In the Berlin research area, the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), Technische Universit?t Berlin, Charité - Universit?tsmedizin Berlin and the University of Potsdam have also signed CoARA. Humboldt-Universit?t is also part of the National Chapter, which networks CoARA stakeholders across Germany

Humboldt-Universit?t is also part of the "National Chapter", which networks CoARA stakeholders throughout Germany and is coordinated by the DFG.

CoARA action plans

The signatories of CoARA draw up action plans that set out the measures planned to reform research assessment over the next five years. Some of the plans are "living documents" and are published on Zenodo.
