Germany semester ticket

The Campus Card is not valid as a semester ticket and is not recognised as a public transport ticket. Instead, you will receive the Deutschlandsemesterticket in digital form in the S-Bahn-Berlin app.

How to obtain the ticket

Authorised students can obtain the Deutschlandsemesterticket via the AGNES portal or the S-Bahn-Berlin app. After logging in with the student HU account, the menu item "Deutschlandsemesterticket" under "Studierendenservice" will show whether the Deutschlandsemesterticket can be used. If this is the case, you will also find the link to the subscription online portal of the S-Bahn Berlin, the service provider of the Berlin public transport company for the provision of the Deutschlandsemesterticket.

The Germany Semester Ticket is made available in digital form in the S-Bahn Berlin app. The ticket is updated monthly (only displayed for the current month). In the event of a ticket inspection, the digital Deutschlandsemesterticket must be presented together with a valid, official photo ID (e.g. identity card).

Frequently asked questions

Please check whether:

  • Your re-registration has already taken place,
  • all relevant data has been transferred via Shibboleth (SSO) (student number, first and last name, date of birth, period of validity of the semester)?

Access is only possible with a student HU account and ticket authorisation. Please note that you may not be able to view your Deutschlandsemesterticket immediately after re-registration or enrolment. In some cases, there may be a delay of a few days.

An application-based exemption from the purchase obligation is only possible for the following student groups:

  • Severely disabled students who are entitled to transport in accordance with SGB IX and can prove that they are in possession of the supplementary sheet to their severely disabled pass and the corresponding token
  • Students who can prove with a medical certificate that they are unable to use the semester ticket for health reasons
  • Students who spend at least three consecutive months of the respective semester outside the area of validity of the Deutschlandsemesterticket due to their studies, an internship semester, a semester abroad or as part of their final thesis
  • Students who are enrolled at another university in Germany and already receive the Deutschlandsemesterticket via this university

Applications for exemption from the obligation to purchase the ticket can be submitted informally to the Enrolment Office up to four weeks after the start of lectures for the semester in question. In order to obtain exemption from the semester ticket price for the entire semester, applications for exemption from the obligation to purchase the ticket must be submitted in good time, together with the relevant supporting documents, so that they can be processed before the start of the semester in question. In the case of applications for exemption received after the start of the semester, only a pro rata refund of the semester ticket price for full unused months can be made.

All students who exercise their membership rights at Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin (main students) are obliged to purchase the Deutschlandsemesterticket, unless they fall into one of the above-mentioned groups. This also applies to students who have a company ticket.

The following groups of people are currently not entitled to the Deutschlandsemesterticket and are excluded from using it:

  • Students on distance learning programmes
  • students on leave of absence.

It is only possible to take a dog with you in the VBB fare zone. The Deutschlandsemesterticket does not include bicycle transport.
