Description

The goal is achieving a comprehensive understanding of the structure and electronic properties of hybrid inorganic/organic systems (HIOS) formed by conjugated organic molecules and transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) monolayers. The first research area aims at determining means to tune the orientation and packing density of van der Waals bound molecules adsorbed on the TMDC monolayer, by varying deposition processes and molecular structure. In the second research area, investigations of ground state electronic coupling and charge transfer processes occurring between strong molecular electron acceptors/donors and TMDC monolayers should unravel whether charge-doping or charge transfer complex formation occurs. Also, photochromic molecular switches covalently bound to the TMDC monolayer will be investigated.
