Description
The year 2023 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the recruitment ban on labour migration in West Germany. The academic and socio-political discussion of this topic is characterised by many abbreviations. In the discussion of the recruitment stop, subject-oriented lifeworld perspectives are often missing.
Humboldt-Universit?t and the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum want to jointly address the history and effects of the 1973 recruitment stop in West Berlin with a focus on Kreuzberg. The aim is to bring together academic, civil-society and cultural-institutional approaches in order to provide a new perspective on social inequalities, discrimination and asymmetrical power relations in the migration society. The first starting point is with those who were and are directly confronted with the political decisions, social debates and social effects of the recruitment stop. Such an approach is suitable for understanding the social, political and cultural effects of the recruitment stop in relation to today's social conditions.
