Description

The changes in teaching and learning at school forced by the Corona pandemic present an opportunity to fundamentally rethink and further develop previous teaching concepts. In this context, the integration of digital media into teaching, which has long been neglected in Germany, plays a prominent role. The use of digital learning platforms and tools is particularly suitable for learning phases at home, in order to be able to offer students both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. This is where the pilot project "BER.hybrid - Hybrid Forms of Teaching" comes in. The goal of the school pilot is to support schools beyond the immediate requirements of the Covid19 pandemic in sustainably integrating digital media into learning and thereby opening up scope for alternative space- and time-independent learning structures and settings. A particular focus is on the individualized support of students, but also on the further development of self-regulatory skills.
The scientific monitoring of the school experiment is intended to systematically document the experiences made and thus make them available for reflection and discussion by the participants themselves as well as other actors, such as other interested schools. In addition, the accompanying scientific research contributes to the steering knowledge for a possible roll-out beyond the pilot phase. In particular, the identification of conditions for success and obstacles in the development of hybrid forms of teaching at the level of the individual school and its teaching conditions should offer added value in this context. Furthermore, in the sense of an effectiveness study, competence developments on the part of the students should be evaluated in the context of the respective models for hybrid instruction piloted at the schools. In this way, the achievement of the competence goals intended by the pilot program can be determined in subject-related and cross-curricular areas (self-regulation) to identify effective learning concepts. Designed as a formative evaluation, the research project is intended to provide feedback already in the development process to further the development of concepts of hybrid instruction.
