Conference "Prospects and Limits of Naturalism in Ethics"
Facts
Fritz Thyssen Foundation
Description
Ethics is an area with regard to which it is especially interesting to enquire into the scope and prospects of naturalistic explanations. Ethical naturalists consider moral phenomena to be natural phenomena and believe that morality can be explained in naturalistic terms. In their attempt to develop such explanations, naturalists often take up ideas developed by Darwin. How are the prospects of the naturalist's agenda in ethics to be estimated? What are the philosophical implications of the possibility of evolutionary explanations of moral phenomena? These thematic core of the conferene will be the discussion of these questions.
