Description
The project will be performed in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture at the Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin, the State Office for consumer protection, agriculture and agriculture restructuring of Brandenburg (LVLF), M?rkischer Saatgutverband e.V. and Brandenburgischer Bauernverband e.V.
The main topic is the adaptation of agricultural useful crops to the expected climate changes. In the first phase of the project, the tolerance of existing varieties of cereals, canola and maize to drought and high temperatures, determined especially in early development, and the resulting recommendations for its cultivation in different regions of Brandenburg will be evaluated. The starting point is the secondary evaluation of sampling country cultivators in the last five years. The available data for Brandenburg will be used to locate the heat- and dry-tolerant genotypes of wheat, barley, rye, canola and maize. The results will be provided to potential users of agricultural practice, on a newly set up Internet platform.
In the second phase of the project field experiments with new cultures for specific questions about cultivation management systems will be carried out. These will be completed by on-farm experiments in farms from the model region Barnim-Uckermark and Lausitz-Spreewald. In collaboration with other subprojects of the innovation network, agronomic adaptation strategies will be assisted.
