On 12 September 2025, the Association of German Landscape Architects (bdla) will present the German Landscape Architecture Award 2025 for the building of the Institute of Physics at Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin (HU). In the "Maturity Test" category, the bdla honours projects that are at least 20 years old and are characterised by special ecological and design quality.
The prize honours the design authors Stefan Tischer, landscape architect, and the architects Georg Augustin and Ute Frank (Augustin + Frank Architekten) in collaboration with J?rg Th. Coqui, landscape architect (COQUI MALACHOWSKA COQUI St?dtebau Landschaftsarchitektur).
The Institute of Physics in Berlin-Adlershof, known as the "Lise-Meitner-Haus", stands out with its 400 metre long green fa?ade and the design of its five courtyards. The building was constructed between 2000 and 2003 and received an award at the Berlin Architecture Prize in 2003.

1227 students, 40 professors and six junior research groups study and conduct research at the Institute of Physics. Research focuses on elementary particle physics, solid state physics, macromolecules and complex systems as well as optics and photonics.
The German Landscape Architecture Prize
The German Landscape Architecture Prize is awarded every two years for outstanding design and conceptual planning achievements that demonstrate aesthetically sophisticated, innovative, ecological and participatory solutions in terms of climate-friendly landscape architecture. The focus is on social and ecological settlement and landscape development as well as contemporary open space planning.
