HU and New York University have entered into a strategic partnership. The agreement provides for a deepening of mutual exchange as well as enhanced cooperation in teaching and research.

The partnership agreement was signed on 16 December in New York by HU President Julia von Blumenthal and Linda G. Mills, President of New York University (NYU). It paves the way for a new phase in a collaboration that has developed over the course of three decades since the first cooperation agreement in 1995.

“It was a very intensive and productive exchange in New York,” says von Blumenthal. “Strong international partnerships make universities more resilient in the face of the major challenges of our time, and I am looking forward to the projects we will implement over the coming years.”

Following the signing of the new accord, cooperation between Berlin and New York is set to be further deepened, and joint initiatives across all areas of the university are to be promoted – from teaching to research, innovation and knowledge transfer, as well as exchange at the administrative level.

With more than 60,000 students, New York University is the largest private university in the United States and is ranked 33rd among the world’s best universities by Times Higher Education. As an internationally oriented institution, NYU maintains several branch campuses abroad. One of them being located in Berlin facilitates direct on-site interaction for members of HU and NYU.
