The Humboldt Award 2022 was presented at Humboldt-Universit?t on 8 November. The award honours outstanding scientific work by students and early-career researchers.
This year's award winners are: Erika Meibauer, Leonard Clau?, Antonia Anna Maria K?lbl, Dr Alexander Mezari, Dr Meike Zehlike, Dr Paul Maximilian Fischer, Benet Lehmann and Heidi Jalkh. The award ceremony took place in the Lichthof-Ost of the main building.
The "Research to Innovation" innovation award was presented for the first time this year by Humboldt-Universit?t's Startup Service and the Innovation Management of Humboldt-Innovation. Heidi Jalkh was honoured with her master's thesis "Making matter active through form. Fabricating bio-inspired behaviour with auxetic structures". The research work shows how the use of geometry and spatial arrangement can be used to provide a conventional elastic material with unconventional behaviour and functionality.
About the Humboldt Award
The prize has been awarded since 2008 and the work is nominated by the deans. The prizes are presented to the award winners by the President of Humboldt-Universit?t at the opening of the respective academic year.
