The University Senate and University Council of the University of Hohenheim today elected Prof Dr Christoph Schneider as the new Rector. After almost four years on the Presidium of Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin (HU), he is expected to move to the University of Hohenheim in autumn. Christoph Schneider has been Professor of Climate Geography at the Department of Geography at HU since 2015 and Vice President for Research since August 2021.
"I would like to congratulate Christoph Schneider on his election and wish him all the best for his new position. I am happy for him, but at the same time I am sad, as we will miss him very much as a colleague in our Executive Board team. I am grateful to him for his outstanding commitment as a member of the Presidium," said Professor Julia von Blumenthal, President of Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin. "He has made a decisive contribution to research at the university and the Berlin University Alliance."
Prof Dr Christoph Schneider
Prof Dr Schneider has been Professor of Climate Geography at the Department of Geography at Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin since 2015 and Vice President for Research at the university since August 2021. After studying geography and physics at the University of Freiburg and various stays abroad, Schneider completed his doctorate and habilitation at the University of Freiburg. In 2004, he was appointed Professor of Physical Geography and Climatology at the Department of Geography at RWTH Aachen University. From 2009 to 2011, he was also managing director of the Department of Geography and spokesperson for the Climatology Working Group of the German Geographical Society, and from 2010 to 2014 he was dean of studies at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering.
