Description

This project aims for a better theoretical understanding of the control of physical and chemical reactions by means of lasers. Alkali dimers should serve as model systems. Very accurate ab initio calculations describing the response of alkali dimers to laser pulses should allow for a deeper understanding of different control schemes, including shaped pulses or pump-dump schemes. A special focus will be on strong-field control where non-linear processes are important. This includes besides non-resonant multiphoton absorption also the modification of potential surfaces due to the electric-field component of the intense laser radiation.
