On Teaching Day, we are focussing on the cross-cutting task from Humboldt-Universit?t's teaching mission statement, which is the theme for the Good Teaching Award, and linking the day to the HU's Teaching Week. Under the annual focus, we addressed the question of how the cross-sectional task is and can be implemented - by teachers and students, in the faculties and institutes, in central and decentralised administration.
In the supporting programme of the event, we will shed light on the topic of the theme week from various perspectives and open the discussions of the upcoming theme week. The ceremony will provide insights into the shortlisted concepts and culminate in the presentation of the Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin Award for Good Teaching
Teaching Day 2025: Sustainable teaching and learning
The Teaching Day under the motto "Sustainable teaching and learning" was dedicated to the question of how sustainability aspects can be taken into account in all areas of teaching and studying - by teachers and students, at the faculties and institutes, in central and decentralised administration.
After keynote speeches on the topic of sustainability in science and society by Prof Dr Christoph Wulf (Vice President of the German UNESCO Commission) and Sara Schurmann (co-founder of the Climate Journalism Network), we discussed aspects of sustainability in teaching and studies at HU. The ceremony opened with a kaleidoscope of best practice from the sustainable shortlist events and was rounded off with improv theatre after the award ceremony for the Studium Oecologicum.
