General Information and Contact
Aims and structure
One aim of the international symposium is an assessment of the current situation of behavioural biology by leading elder representatives of the field, who will then discuss and develop challenges and perspectives on this basis together with the discipline's outstanding younger scientists.
A limited number of scientists will be invited to the symposium as Distinguished Senior Lecturers by the organisers. Participants will not only be selected based on ground-breaking research results, but particularly if they have made a major conceptual and interdisciplinary contribution that has considerably influenced and shaped the entire field of behavioural sciences.
The Distinguished Senior Lecturers will be asked to invite an outstanding younger scientist of their choice as an Invited Co-Lecturer; both will then present and discuss a topic together at the symposium. In addition, several nationally and internationally renowned researchers will be invited in order to contribute to the discussion and participate actively in the development of concepts.
This generation-spanning meeting of the field's leading figures who co-founded the discipline, the scientists currently conducting the bulk of research, and the most promising younger scientists may allow to develop a unified perspective of the field incorporating all insights that have already been gained and proceed from this basis to seek new avenues of research.
Talks and podium discussions will be open to all in the scientific community according to the guidelines of the Leopoldina and participation will be free.
